Need a few pages from a longer PDF? Keep them together in one new document, or save each page as its own file.

How It Works

  1. Step 1. Choose how to split the PDF
  2. Step 2. Enter and check the page numbers
  3. Step 3. Split and save the results

Choose how to split the PDF

Open one PDF, up to 100 MB, then choose Split Mode in Options. Choose Range when the pages belong together. For example, a chapter you want to send as one attachment.

Split ModeResult
RangeOne PDF containing the pages in Page Range.
ExtractA separate PDF for each page in Page Range, up to 50 files per run.
AllSeparate page PDFs from the beginning of the document, up to 50 files per run. This is the default.

Signing in does not increase the 50-file limit for All or Extract. If you need later pages, use Extract with another group of up to 50 pages.

Enter and check the page numbers

With Range or Extract, type your selection into Page Range. Use commas to separate choices and a dash for consecutive pages: 1-3, 5 selects pages 1, 2, 3 and 5.

Count from the first page of the PDF, even if the document has different printed page numbers. Your selection stays in the original order, and repeated page numbers are included only once.

Check your numbers before you click Split. If Page Range is blank or cannot be read, the tool produces separate page files instead. A number outside the document can select its first or last page, so don’t rely on an error to catch a typo.

Split and save the results

Click Split, then use Download for a combined PDF. For separate pages, download individual files or choose Download All and check the file count beside it.

Depending on your browser and setup, the batch may save as individual PDFs, ask you to choose a folder, or arrive in a ZIP archive. Turn off Auto-download if you want to start saving yourself.

Open your saved copy before you send it. Check the page selection and order, plus any links, forms or bookmarks you need. Keep the original PDF so you can make a different selection later.

Questions about splitting PDFs

No. This tool rejects encrypted PDFs. Use an unlocked copy, then return to Split PDF.

No. Entering 5, 1 still places page 1 before page 5. Split PDF keeps selected pages in their original order.

Use the page position expected by the tool. Printed numbering can differ because of covers, contents pages, or Roman numerals. Check the preview and the first page of the downloaded result before sharing an extracted range.
