Overview
Need to correct a date, fill in a form, or leave feedback? MiOffice AI’s PDF Editor lets you edit detected text, add text boxes and annotations, fill supported form fields, and place a visual signature. PDF editing runs in your browser. Sign-in is required, and account checks use network services. Download the edited PDF copy and inspect it before sharing, especially if you changed text or placed answers over printed lines.
The PDF Editor loads and edits PDF bytes in your browser. Save changes by downloading a separate edited PDF copy, then open that copy to inspect the result.
When to use
- Use Edit Text for a short correction in a detected text block, such as a date. For a substantial rewrite, use the original Word or design file if you have it.
- Use Text Box to add an answer on a blank line, or Form Fill for supported detected fields in an interactive form. To leave feedback, highlight an area and add a short text note; Underline, Strikethrough, Draw, Shapes, or Stamp can also call attention to content.
- If you cannot select words with Edit Text, the page may be a scan. You can add a text box or markup over it, but OCR support for recognizing scanned text is not established. Redact draws an opaque rectangle and is not established as secure removal of the content underneath.
How to use
Open a PDF with the file picker or drag and drop it, then choose a page from the editor navigation. Zoom in when you need to select a particular word or place an answer precisely. The accepted input format is PDF.
Choose the tool for your task. Use Edit Text on a detected text block to change existing wording, or Text Box to add text in a blank area. For a new text box, adjust its position and font size so it fits without covering nearby content. Use Form Fill for supported detected fields; for printed lines without clickable fields, use Text Box. To review a document, highlight the relevant area and add a short note; use Underline, Strikethrough, Draw, Shapes, or Stamp when they make feedback clearer. You can also place an image or visual signature. Image insertion accepts image files, but the inspected exporter embeds PNG or JPEG, so do not assume every image format will export successfully. A visual signature is not certificate-based digital signing. If a page is a scan, you can add text or markup over it, but OCR support is not established.
Choose Save/Export PDF to download an edited copy. Export before closing or refreshing the tab. Open the downloaded PDF and inspect every affected page: check that changed text fits, added text does not cover nearby content, markup and signatures are positioned as intended, and form answers appear in the right places. Keep the original until the exported copy looks right.

Examples & use cases
A coordinator updating a date in a notice
Correct a short date
A PDF notice has selectable text, and one short date needs correcting before the notice is sent. This is a brief correction rather than a rewrite.
PDF to PDF
- Tool:
- edittext
- Choose Edit Text and select the detected text block containing the date.
- Make the short correction, then check how it fits beside the surrounding text.
- Download the edited copy and reopen it to inspect the date and spacing.
Expected outcome
An edited PDF copy to review before sending. Check the changed date and its placement in the downloaded file.
A person completing a printed application
Type answers on printed lines
The application has blank printed lines but no clickable fields. The answers need to show on the page without creating new interactive fields.
PDF to PDF
- Tool:
- text
- Font Size:
- 12
- Font:
- Helvetica
- Choose Text Box because the form has printed lines rather than detected interactive fields.
- Place a text box at each answer area. Use the supported Font Size and Font controls to make the new text fit the available space.
- Download the copy and inspect each completed line and the nearby instructions.
Expected outcome
An edited PDF with visible answers. Reopen the downloaded copy and check that each answer sits on its intended line without covering nearby content.
A reviewer marking up an agreement
Highlight a date and add feedback
A delivery date in a PDF agreement needs attention, with a short note explaining a proposed change. The reviewer wants to call out the date rather than rewrite a longer section.
PDF to PDF
- Tool:
- highlight
- Choose Highlight and mark the delivery date that needs attention.
- Add a short text note beside it explaining the proposed change.
- Download the annotated copy and check that the highlight identifies the date and the note is readable beside it.
Expected outcome
An annotated PDF copy for review. Inspect the affected page to confirm the mark and note point to the intended date.
A person adding a signature to a PDF
Place a visual signature
A PDF needs a visible signature in a designated area. The signature is visual, not certificate-based digital signing.
PDF to PDF
- Tool:
- signature
- Create Signature:
- type
- Choose Signature and select the type option to create a visual signature by typing a name.
- Place it in the intended signature area.
- Download the edited copy and check the signature’s position on the page.
Expected outcome
An edited PDF copy with a placed visual signature to inspect before sharing.
More ways to use it
- A form applicant: A PDF form may contain supported interactive fields or only printed lines; the appropriate way to add answers depends on which kind is present. A downloaded PDF copy with answers in supported detected fields, or visible text boxes over printed lines. Reopen the copy to check each answer and its placement. Tool: formfill.
- A teammate reviewing a document: A reviewer needs to point out a passage and explain what should change without rewriting the whole PDF. An annotated PDF copy with a highlighted area and a short explanatory note. Check that the markup and note identify the intended passage. Tool: highlight.
Troubleshooting
Words on a page cannot be selected for editing.
Try this: If the page appears to be a scan, use Text Box to place visible text over it instead of trying to edit the image as text.
What to expect: A text box can add visible text, but it does not turn scanned words into editable text. OCR support is not established for this editor.
A black cover appears over sensitive information, but you need to remove the underlying content.
Try this: Do not rely on Redact to securely remove sensitive information.
What to expect: Redact draws an opaque rectangle; it does not establish that the underlying PDF content has been removed.
Privacy
The PDF Editor loads and edits PDF bytes in your browser. Account and access checks use network services. Export an edited copy before closing the tab. See the privacy policy at https://mioffice.ai/privacy for current file-handling and retention details.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit a PDF on my phone?
Yes. You can add text and mark up pages using the mobile toolbar. Selecting a small text block or placing a note precisely can be harder on a phone, so use a tablet or computer when precise selection and placement matter.
Can I fill in a PDF that has no clickable fields?
Yes. Choose Text Box and place answers over the printed lines. The answers appear on the page, but this does not create new clickable form fields.
Can I redact sensitive information permanently?
No. Redact draws an opaque rectangle over an area; it does not establish that the underlying PDF content has been removed. Do not rely on it to hide sensitive information permanently.
Do I need an account to edit a PDF?
Yes. Sign-in is required. PDF editing runs in your browser; the workspace checks account access before export.
How do I check that my PDF edits were saved correctly?
Choose Save/Export PDF, download the edited copy, and reopen it. Inspect changed text, added elements, and form answers on every affected page. Keep the original until the exported copy looks right.
Will editing replace my original file?
The editor downloads a separate edited PDF copy. Keep your original separately so you can return to it if you want to start again.
Can I edit existing text in a PDF?
Yes, when the words are in a detected text block: choose Edit Text and make the change. If the words cannot be selected, the page may be a scan, and OCR support is not established. For a substantial rewrite, use the original Word or design file if you have it.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
You can add a text box or markup over a scanned page, but OCR support for recognizing the words is not established for this editor.
Can I fill interactive PDF form fields?
Use Form Fill for supported detected fields. You can also place visible text over printed lines, but text boxes do not create interactive fields.
Can I add a signature to a PDF?
Yes. Create a visual signature by typing a name, drawing it, or uploading a signature image, then place it in the PDF. This is not certificate-based digital signing.
Can I add notes or highlight a PDF?
Yes. The editor includes Highlight, Underline, Strikethrough, Draw, Shapes, and Stamp tools. Download the edited copy and check that each mark and note is on the intended page and area.
How are files handled when I edit a PDF?
The PDF Editor loads and edits PDF bytes in your browser. Account and access checks use network services. Export an edited copy before closing the tab. See the privacy policy at https://mioffice.ai/privacy for current file-handling and retention details.
Can I edit a PDF without installing desktop software?
Yes. Open a PDF, make changes, and download the edited copy in your browser. Sign-in is required.
Can I place an image in a PDF?
The editor provides an Image tool for placing images. The picker accepts image files, but the inspected exporter embeds PNG or JPEG, so do not assume every image format will export successfully.
Can I edit a PDF and keep the original formatting?
Check the downloaded copy rather than assuming edited text will match the source exactly. A PDF font may not include the characters you add, which can lead the editor to fall back to another font and change spacing. Inspect the changed text and nearby content on each affected page.
Can I use Redact to cover information before sharing a PDF?
Redact draws an opaque rectangle, but removal of the underlying PDF content is not established. Do not use this control as secure redaction for sensitive information.
