A watermark is a visible label. It does not restrict copying, prevent edits or remove private content underneath it.

How It Works

  1. Step 1. Add one PDF
  2. Step 2. Write a short label
  3. Step 3. Adjust its appearance
  4. Step 4. Save and inspect the PDF

How to watermark a PDF

1. Add one PDF

Choose one PDF up to 100 MB. The watermark is added to every page; there is no page selection or image-logo upload.

2. Write a short label

Type your label in Watermark Text, replacing the default CONFIDENTIAL. Keep it short: long labels do not wrap or shrink to fit. If you clear the field, the saved mark uses WATERMARK instead.

3. Adjust its appearance

The defaults are Font Size 48, Opacity 0.15, Gray, Center and Diagonal ↘. The font-size field offers 12–120; the opacity slider runs from 0.05 to 0.5. Choose Gray, Red, Blue or Black, and place the label at the center or one of the four corners.

4. Save and inspect the PDF

Click Watermark, then Download. Auto-download may save the file automatically when enabled. Open the result and check several pages, especially if the document mixes page sizes or orientations. Make sure the label fits and the original words remain readable.

What a watermark cannot do

Use the mark to label the document. It cannot add a logo, target selected pages or stop someone copying the content. Writing CONFIDENTIAL across a page does not hide what is on it.

Password-protected PDFs can fail to open; unlock your document first. Some characters are unsupported by the watermark font and may cause processing to fail. Use a short, simple label and check the exported copy.

Watermarking runs in the browser, but some failures or unusually small outputs may send the input file for diagnostics. Do not rely on a never-uploaded guarantee.

No. A visible watermark is a label or overlay, not a reliable way to remove underlying content. Do not cover private information with a watermark and assume it is gone. Use a verified redaction workflow when information must be removed.
