Turn your clip into a backwards-playing MP4. Start with the part you want to reverse so the result contains just that sequence.

How It Works

  1. Step 1. Choose the clip
  2. Step 2. Decide what to do with sound
  3. Step 3. Process and check the reversal

Choose the clip

Add one MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI or MKV file, up to 200 MB. Shorter clips are a useful starting point because reversal has to hold frames before playing them in the opposite order.

A falling object appears to move back toward its starting position when the clip is reversed. You get the backwards sequence alone; a forward-playing copy is not added automatically.

Decide what to do with sound

Under Reverse Options, Reverse Audio is selected by default. Mute Audio is the other choice.

ChoiceWhat to expect
Reverse AudioReverses the soundtrack with the picture. Spoken words and music play backwards.
Mute AudioRequests a silent result, but this choice may not be applied during online processing. Check the downloaded file.

If you need silence, use Remove Audio from Video on the saved reversed clip as a separate step. Leave that tool’s extra editing controls unchanged and check its output.

Process and check the reversal

Leave the extra editing and output settings unchanged for the basic MP4 workflow, then click Process Reverse Video.

Save the result with Download. The page also attempts an automatic download about five seconds after processing finishes. Play the saved file and check the motion, soundtrack and picture quality.

Reversal re-encodes the video, so the result is not a promise of identical visual quality. If processing fails, try a shorter clip and check the error shown before retrying.

Questions about Reverse Video

Reverse the clip here, then use Merge Videos to place the original before the reversed file. Check the join and sound before sharing the combined result.

Yes, if you only need that moment. Create a short source clip first, then reverse it and inspect both endpoints. This also avoids processing unrelated footage and makes it easier to choose where the effect begins and ends.
