How It Works

  3. Step 3. Save the JPG copies

Convert your photos

Add HEIC or HEIF files

Add up to 50 HEIC or HEIF photos, with each file no larger than 100 MB. If you choose online processing, each file must fit its lower 95 MB limit.

Set Quality and convert

Start with the current Quality setting, or adjust it before clicking Convert. The setting is not a promise of the final encoding quality: local conversion can lower it further when a JPG comes out larger than the source photo. Check fine detail in the result if it matters for your use.

Save the JPG copies

Choose Download for one photo or Download All for a batch. Open the saved JPGs and make sure they are the photos you meant to send and the right way up. Keep the original HEIC or HEIF files separately.

Limits and recovery

You get still images, not the motion from a Live Photo. If that movement is part of what you want to share, keep the original photo for that purpose.

If a photo will not convert, try opening it on the phone or camera app that created it and exporting or sharing it as JPEG. An accepted .heic or .heif extension does not guarantee that every photo variant can be decoded.

HEIC conversion questions

Do not assume it does. A Live Photo includes motion data beyond the still picture. A JPG is a still image, so keep the original Live Photo if you want its movement and sound as well as a compatible photo copy.
